"All professionals can grow their business, with the help of practical and actionable advice."
Ben Paul has over 20 years of experience in providing sales and marketing advice. He is the CEO/Managing Director and founder of The BD Ladder. Ben enjoys collaborating with teams and individuals to help them to better understand, build and enhance their brands.
Prior to establishing The BD Ladder, he was the Business Development and Marketing Director at one of the country’s leading law firms, Kensington Swan. In this role, he was part of the management team that oversaw the firm’s successful combination with the world’s largest law firm, Dentons. Ben led and managed the successful rebranding of the firm to Dentons Kensington Swan.
He has also established a key client program in the NZ arm of a leading Trans-Tasman engineering consultancy. Previously to this, he reinvigorated a key client programme at a Fortune 500 listed engineering consultancy. Ben has also worked directly for two global accountancy firms in both Auckland and London.
He has delivered a proposal response which was held up as global best practice across one of these firm’s internal global networks. Ben is very experienced in providing practical sales and marketing advice to those he works with.
One of Ben’s key strengths is that he brings active change to the way things are done, so that his clients can achieve the results that they aspire to. A credible coach and mentor who believes in a simple step by step approach to help individuals adapt and change their client winning strategies.
Ben was brought into the business I was running (Calibre NZ) to assist with developing long term client relationships and win new business with clients we hadn’t previously been engaged by. Ben’s professional and engaging style helped us map out the key relationships and plan the engagement which ultimately led to new opportunities and revenue growth.
“Ben has exceptional skills in leading bid teams and writing winning Executive Summaries. His main strength is fully understanding and clearly articulating the key requirements sought and developing his clients key messages and how relate to them. Many people talk about being client-centric, Ben lives and breathes it, it is part of his DNA. This is why his RFP responses stand-out against the competition and have a high success rate.”
“Ben is someone that I trust to support me to succeed in developing relationships, winning better work, building trust with senior executives and buyers. He’s the kind of advisor who is more about clear, practical plans that work, rather than theory – he knows the science behind trust and relationships, but when he coaches it’s not about grand plans, but small simple ideas that you can practice and implement easily and repeatedly. Ben stays in touch and makes sure that every time we meet, he leaves me with at least one good idea I can use that relevant to what I’m doing at the time.”
Ben is a fantastic business development and marketing coach who provides practical advice tailored to Calibre’s business needs. He has taken the time to understand our business and ensures the solutions he provides add value to our clients and enhances our brand.
Ben has built a strong rapport with me and I am able to call on Ben whenever I need support. I trust the advice he gives me and enjoy working collaboratively with him.
In the time I worked with Ben, he made a real impact on my practice by delivering practical Business Development advice. Our success rate in winning major proposals and tenders increased significantly as he managed, wrote and delivered the RFP responses with a client centric focus. Ben’s advice is focused on generating profitable revenue growth to those he works with.
I worked very closely with Ben on a number of significant proposals and bids. Ben’s help was invaluable. He was able to pull me back so that we could reassess the situation. With his coaching, advice and guidance I was better able to understand the needs of my client. As a result my proposals were more focused and better addressed my clients requirements. Ultimately I believe that with Ben’s assistance I was able to win more work that I would have otherwise done.
