The need for a strong digital presence is true within any industry. However, over the last few years, it has become even more critical within the legal industry. The need for a strong law firm digital footprint, to enhance brands and reputations is now almost universally acccepted. Firms have increasingly invested more in their websites and digital marketing efforts. Indeed, it is far more common to have digital marketing specialist roles within the larger firms.
With this in mind, we teamed up with Commwiser to develop the first ever Law Firm Digital Footprint Report for New Zealand law firms. The plan is to continually review and update the findings from the report, to ascertain what firms are doing well and where the areas for improvement are.
The New Zealand Law Firm Digital Footprint Report 2023
In order for the team at Commwiser to complete their comprehensive analysis (which is based on a tried and trusted methodology used to analyse other regions) a group of 10 law firms were selected.
The 10 firms were selected based on their nomination for the Large Law Firm of the Year 2023 award at the recent NZ Law Awards. Some were omitted as we could not obtain enough concrete evidence to represent them accurately, and others have a global digital presence, rather than a locally focused one. Our intent was to create an insightful report, not ranking a list of the top 10 firms. We’ll leave that to other organisations.

This is the first report of this nature, focused on the New Zealand market and contains some very interesting results.
